Often times, hard water deposits – or specks, can be seen on your dishes – these are calcium and lime deposits that regular dish soap does not remove. A good way to reduce to the amount of hard water spots is to add white, distilled vinegar to your dish-washing cycle. The easiest way to do this is to take a small cup to the top tray of your dishwasher, add a 1 cup of vinegar to it, set upright and run the cycle. As the cycle runs the cup will over flow causing your dishes to be washed in vinegar. This also has the added benefit to work as a disinfectant to reduce the build up of mold and mildew in your dishwasher.

Remember to clean your condenser coil! A dirty condenser coil will cause the fridge to run longer, harder and be less efficient at keeping your groceries cold. Keeping it clean will not only keep your groceries cold, but because it's not running as often - it can help lower your monthly electric bill.
